HI-GRADE #784-10 ROSIN ACTIVATED (RA) FLUX

Description

Hi-Grade #784-10 Rosin Flux is a specially formulated rosin-activated flux consisting of pure rosin blended with a solvent system exhibiting excellent wetting power. The rosin used is of extra high purity and free from conductive contaminants.

The components in the solvent system are also of highest purity and unique blending of selected solvents keep evaporation losses to a minimum on continuos exposure to aeration and working conditions.

The Hi-Grade #784-10 Rosin Flux is laboratory tested (both raw materials and finished product under strict quality control for consistent composition and performance. It is proven in the field, and is competitively priced.

Special Features

  • Dependable soldering on copper, brass, copper-bearing alloys,
  • tin-plate, cadmium and gold plated surfaces
  • Low capillary action of raw flux, but good capillary action of solder
  • Instant wetting
  • Fast recovery of the foam column
  • Less rejects
  • Fewer touch-ups
  • Non-tacky board surface shortly after soldering

Uses

Hi-Grade #784-10 Rosin Flux is specially formulated for foam fluxing of printed circuits and other electronics assemblies. It can also be used with excellent results on etched and printed circuit boards.

Applications

The Hi-Grade #784-10 Rosin Flux is formulated for use with foam flux operations as well as applying it by dipping, brushing or spraying. Although there are no uniform working instructions because of the variety of foam fluxing equipment on the market, the following guidelines will help assure dependable soldered joints:

1. Maintain adequate and constant flux level in the fluxing unit
2. Evaporation losses should be compensated by using Hi-Grade #16-784 Thinner
3. Keep equipment clean and avoid contamination particularly oil and water
4. Keep the air pressure low and make sure the air lines contain traps to remove water and oils which may change the foaming properties of the flux

Residue

The residue is considered non-hygroscopic, non-tacky and can be removed easily with Hi-Grade Rosin Removers. Alcohols and chlorinated solvents will also remove the residue, but at a slower rate. It is suggested, when applicable, to remove all undecomposed flux to attain higher reliability.
