HI-GRADE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL (IPA)
Description
Isopropyl alcohol is a stable, colourless,
low-boiling liquid with a characteristic alcoholic odour and bitter taste. It is volatile,
flammable and completely miscible with water in all proportions.
It is also known as 2-propanol, sec-propyl
alcohol, isopropanol and IPA. Being just slightly higher boiling than ethyl alcohol and
only slightly slower evaporating, Isopropyl alcohol is used interchangeably in many of the
same solvent applications, including surface coatings, printing inks, rubbing alcohol,
solvent extraction, pharmaceuticals and household products. The major chemical use for
Isopropyl alcohol is as a feedstock for acetone production although it has numerous other
applications as a chemical intermediate.
