ANTI-OXIDANT CHEMICALS
Powdery and mashy solder dross are formed
over the solder surface due to oxidation and burning of flux and PCB contamination. The
amount of dross will depend on the air and molten solder contact time and how much
abrasion of moving parts of the pump. Normally if there is no any action taken, the dross
are formed about 30 - 50 % weight of new solders put to the pot daily. If they are not
removed and the layer becomes too thick it can be pulled into the solder pump and can
cause abrasion of the moving parts of the pump and inclusions of dross particles in solder
joints.
To avoid these problems, the normal
procedure is periodically scrap off the dross with a spoon from the molten solder surface.
How ever, such practice is not economical as the removal always discard good solder along
with dross.

antioxidant. The products provide an economical and effective mean to minimize dross
formation and solder usage.
1 Anti-Oxidant Powder
HG
AO-20-S
An anti-oxidant powder that provides an economical and effective mean to minimize
dross formation and solder usage. This highly heats stable, non-combustible white powder
will segregate good solder away from the dross and push up the dross to top surface of
molten solder.
2 Anti-Oxidant Oil
HG BB59-S
Organic petroleum based compounds used as solder pot blankets to inhibit dross
formation thereby saving solder. Prevents clogging of pump-parts from build-up of metal
oxides in wave solder equipment. Reduces surface tension in solder wave to improve wetting
action of solder on boards or components.
